An invitation
We're looking for a bassist and a keys player.
One role each, or one person who plays both — we're open.
We'd rather not hand out our phone numbers to the internet, so we've built this instead.
It takes about five minutes. Be honest.
First, what should we call you?
How old are you, friend?
Roughly is fine.
Roughly, where in the world are you?
Town or city is plenty. We're not trying to doxx you; we just don't fancy a bassist in Buenos Aires if we rehearse in Penticton.
Can you sing?
Harmonies especially. Be honest — "in the shower" is a valid answer.
What do you play?
Answer both. Either, both, or neither is a valid answer — there's no penalty for honesty.

Rate these artists out of ten.
0 = "I would cross the street to avoid this music." 10 = "I have wept to this at least once." Tap the ? if you've never heard of them — no points lost, no bluffing required.
Now — rank these in order of how much you love them.
Top of the list = favourite. Use the arrows to reorder. Tap the ? if you've never heard of one — no bluffing needed.
Same again, for genres.
Top = you'd happily spend a Sunday afternoon in it.
Be honest: rank your own musical abilities.
Strongest at the top. No one's watching. (We are, but kindly.)
Fretless, or fretted?
A song is at its best when…
Which of these sounds most like a good Saturday?
Pick a lyric you'd be happy to have your name next to.
No wrong answer. (There are wrong answers.)
Where do you sit?
On a scale of metronome to rubato. No numbers. Just feel it.
Preferred volume, in a word or two.
However you'd describe it. There is no right answer.
The boring bit.
A few practicalities. We'll keep it brief.
Considering your application…
Asking the keyboardist what he thinks.
Thank you, genuinely.
On this occasion we don't think it's quite the right fit — but we're grateful you took the time, and we've saved your answers in case our compass swings your way down the line.
No contact form here. We'd rather not bother you, and you'd rather we didn't. Go well.
Thanks for taking the time.
If it's ok, would you mind leaving us a way to find you so we can get in touch if needs be?
Sent. Thank you.
We could be in touch. I know that's very noncommittal. Either way it probably won't be within the hour — we're in the studio, or in the garden, or lost.
